What caused the Renaissance? Causes:Medieval Reasons For? 1. Increased trade with Asia and other regions. 2. Growth of large, wealthy city- states in Italy. 3. Renewed interest in the classical learning of ancient Greek & Rome. 4. Rise of rich & powerful merchants 5. Increased desire for scientific & technological knowledge. 6. Desire to beautify cities. Movement of Crusaders renewed connections across Eurasia Centers of trade & travel develop along the Mediterranean due to Crusades Knowledge transfer from Middle East due to Crusades Downfall of Feudalism (Specialization) Feeling of futility & anger at God for Black Death Reaction to the horrors & aversion of the Black Death
