Body Tube Eyepiece Revolving Nosepiece Low Power Objective Arm Medium Power Objective Stage Clip High Power Objective Course Adjustment Knob Stage Fine Adjustment Knob Diaphragm Light Source Base

MICROSCOPE NOTES

Revolving Nosepiece Contains the objectives and can be rotated to change magnification

Body Tube Maintains a proper distance between the eyepiece and the objective lenses

Medium Power Objective Provides a magnification of 10X (total 100 X magnification)

High Power Objective Provides a magnification of 40X (total 400 X magnification)

Stage Supports the slide being observed.

Light Source Produces or reflects light up through the body tube.

Diaphragm Regulates the amount of light entering the body tube

Base Supports the microscope

Fine Adjustment Knob Moves the body tube slightly to sharpen the focus

Course Adjustment Knob Moves the body tube up and down for focusing

Stage Clip Hold the slide in position

Arm Supports the body tube

Low Power Objective Provides a magnification of 4 X (for a total of 40 X magnification)

Eyepiece Contains a magnifying lens
