Website: Bologna Secretariat Additional EHEA priority areas with a link to EIT  Employability: With labour markets increasingly relying on higher skill levels and transversal competences, higher education should equip students with the advanced knowledge, skills and competences they need throughout their professional lives; Employability empowers the individual to fully seize the opportunities in changing labour markets; work placements embedded in study programmes as well as on-the-job learning. 6 Leuven/ Louvain la Neuve communique, 2009

Website: Bologna Secretariat Additional EHEA priority areas with a link to EIT  Student-centred learning and the teaching mission of higher education: Ongoing curricular reform geared toward the development of learning outcomes; Empowering individual learners, new approaches; Individually tailored education paths.  Education, research and innovation: Higher education should be based at all levels on state of the art research and development thus fostering innovation and creativity in society; The number of people with research competences should increase; Doctoral programmes should […]increasingly be complemented by inter- disciplinary and inter-sectoral programmes. 7 Leuven/ Louvain la Neuve communique, 2009

Website: Bologna Secretariat Additional EHEA priority areas with a link to EIT  International openess: global collaboration for sustainable development; attractiveness and openness of European higher education will be highlighted by joint European actions.  Mobility: Joint degrees and programmes as well as mobility windows shall become more common practice  Social dimension?  Lifelong learning? 8 Leuven/ Louvain la Neuve communique, 2009

Website: Bologna Secretariat 9 Possible mutual benefits from furthering both the EIT educational initiatives and the EHEA consolidation  Pushing EHEA members to allow for joint degrees and to clarify the quality assurance arrangements of such programmes;  Improving the understanding of employers regarding Bologna tools such as learning outcomes, Diploma Supplement or ECTS;  Re-opening the debate on “structured” PhD and post-doctoral programmes;  Strengthening the link between HEIs and society, by providing solutions to global challenges and interacting with other key actors;  Re-position on the EHEA debate agenda themes such as curriculum reform, intellectual property and even governance and funding of HEIs.

Website: Bologna Secretariat 10 Areas that need further consideration  Introducing another incentive for capacity development for only some of the EHEA member countries;  Continuous assessment of EIT labels and quality enhancement;  Making sure that the EIT educational programmes continue to fulfill all higher education missions (Council of Europe definition).
