More About Firemen Firemen What is the most important thing you do for our community? We make a difference in people’s lives. When someone calls 911, there’s usually a problem and we can help. Is it hard to go into a burning building? You don’t really think about it when you are doing it, but afterwards you look back. As an officer now I worry about people I give the orders to. As Chief I stand out front and survey the situation. I get there early to see where the fire hydrants are.
What do you do at the firehouse while you’re waiting? We eat our meals together sometimes watch t. v. Even when we aren’t at the station we might go to a game together. Have you ever driven the fire truck? Yes it takes a lot of training, though, and you have to train for 2 ½ years before you can drive the ladder truck. Are people afraid in the ambulance? Yes, because sometimes they don’t know what’s going to happen to them.

Haddonfield’s Hadrosaurus The founder of the Hadrosaurus was Willam Parker Foulke. He made the discovery in in the summer of 1858,Victorion gentleman Willam P. Flouke was vacationing in Haddonfield, NJ, when he heard that twenty years previous, workers had found gigantic bones in a local marl-pit. Foulke spent the late summer and fall directing a crew of hired diggers shin deep in gray slime. Eventually he found the bones of an animal larger than an elephant with structural features of both a lizard and a bird. Changing the shape of the original reconstruction of Hadrosaurus featured a creature in a kangaroo stance--- an animal that used its tail as a third leg. At the same time, while the fossil was nearly complete, it lacked a skull. Because parts of its skeleton needed to be reassesembled. John Giannatti is the sculptor of the 1-ton dinosaur standing right now in the middle of Haddonfield, N.J, as an historical landmark. The Hadrosaurus is famous because it is the most complete dinosaur found anywhere in the world.!
Facts About the Indian King Haddonfield's Indian King Tavern is one of New Jersey's most historic buildings. Named for the local Lenape Indians, it is a premiere example of eighteenth-century colonial tavern architecture as well as the site where New Jersey was legally created. In 1777, as clashing armies devastated Trenton, the Assembly reconvened in the Indian King to pass legislation officially creating an independent state and adopting its Great Seal. Legend has it that, throughout the 1780s, Dolley Payne -- who later became First Lady Dolley Madison -- was a frequent visitor. In 1903 the facility became New Jersey's first State Historic Site. The museum, which annually hosts more than 4,000 visitors, celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2000.
