Libyan Civil War

Omar Mouammer al Gaddafi was the highest leader of Libya. He had overthrew the Idrisid dynasty and established The Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in According to the history, as a leader of governing a country for 42 years. He was the longest reigning ruler in Arab States

Libyan, the country manipulated by Gaddafi became the richest country in Africa. However, many people had been influenced by many neighboring countries’ Arab Spring. And anti- Gaddafi wanted to make a plan to revolt and change the Libyan government.

The first demonstration began at the second largest city in Libya, and the range was spreading throughout the whole country gradually. The citizens could not bear the system of dictatorship and anti- Gaddafi began to demonstrate for overthrow Gaddafi dictatorship and the establishment of democracy on Feb, 2011.

Even though the demonstration was suppressed by the government’s military, the force anti-government and Libyan military will have a intense fight. In a short time, Libyan military had been killing many citizens. U.S.A, England, the United Nations and some other countries had condemned Libyan government’s violence.

On March, 19, 2011, American Navy enforced a plan called “Operation Odyssey Dawn” which the battleships located in Mediterranean Sea launched 110 guided missile to Libya. On March, 23, 2011, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) finally became the dominant leader of this war.

The property of this war Originally, this civil war was caused by the different Libyan factions and parties’ revolution. Later, as Western countries involved the development of middle east countries, result in an international war between western countries, Europe, middle east and North Africa.

Actually, the most point of this revolution is Gaddafi’s dictatorship, and the citizen were influenced by Arab Spring. So, this is the forth time that the military alliance of Western countries strike against to the sovereign state after Kosovo War, Afghanistan War and Iraq War.

After the army conquered the capital of Libya, Omar Mouammer al Gaddafi was always escaping in the North of Libya. Until October 20 th, he was killed in Sirte. On October 23 rd, the new government announced that the whole country was liberated, and the war is over.
