A list of all of the learning targets for the unit “I can…” statements Students record scores from Quick Checks and Exit Cards on their Learning Target Logs Helps students, teacher, and parents to know which of the learning targets a students has mastered and which ones he/she needs to practice Students should keep Learning Target Logs at the front of the math section of their binder

Helping your child be successful -Check and sign learning target logs; encourage your child to review learning targets they have not understood to at least level 3 (good understanding but minor mistakes) -Check math notebook; ask what your child is learning - Encourage your child to have a positive attitude about math -Help your child to see how math is used in everyday life -Encourage your student to get help and ask questions -Communicate if there is a problem

Helping with Homework Students should only be working on homework that has already been taught in class. However, they still sometimes get stuck. Help them to be responsible for their own learning. Feel free to help and guide! Suggested prompts: Where do you think you should begin? Where can you find help in your textbook or notes? Tell me where you’re stuck. Tell me what you’ve done so far. What do the directions say? Are there similar problems you can look at?
