Brainsweat: The Anatomy of Wisdom Wisdom Personified 1 Corinthians 1:20–2:5

Memory Verse It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30

Learning Goals Explore: Students will understand that the wisdom of God is clearly seen in the person of Jesus and contradicts the wisdom of the world. Transform: Students will describe how following Christ seems foolish to the world but is the ultimate wise decision.

Discussion How does following God’s wisdom sometimes make you feel foolish? How can you become wiser in the ways of God? Why does following Christ look so foolish to the world and yet so wise to God? How can we show the world what true wisdom looks like?

Key Study 1. The wisdom of this world cannot attain to the wisdom of Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:20–25

Key Study 2. Through Himself, Christ brings wisdom to the foolish. 1 Corinthians 1:26–31

Key Study 3. Our faith is strengthened by the power of God, not the resources of men. 1 Corinthians 2:1–5
