Moroni 7 The Peaceable Walk

Moroni 7 believers?lang=enghttp:// believers?lang=eng Charity: An Example of the Believers

Moroni 7 The ways that people ‘walk peaceably’ …Moroni 7:3-4 What does a ‘peaceable walk’ look like with: An ornery sibling? A harsh teacher? A driver who cuts you off in traffic? An imperfect bishop?

Moroni 7 Is judging ever acceptable for a peaceable walker? Moroni 7:16-17 “Judgment is an important use of our agency and requires great care, especially when we make judgments about other people. All our judgments must be guided by righteous standards. Only God, who knows each individual's heart, can make final judgments of individuals.” (lds.org “Judging Others”)

Moroni 7 President Monson: Clean Windows

Moroni 7 President Uchtdorf: Stop It!

Moroni 7 How has learned the importance of not judging other people? Who can testify of the blessing of being accepting of others?

DOCTRINE What is “The Spirit of Christ” Definition: D&C 88:7-12 Application: Alma 19:6 Caution: James 4:17 Blessing: Moroni 7:19

“Great religious leaders such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as the philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God’s light … to enlighten whole nations.” (Statement of the First Presidency, 15 February 1978.) “Those who make these discoveries are inspired of God or they would never make them. The Lord gave inspiration to Edison, to Franklin, to Morse, to Whitney and to all of the inventors and discoverers, and through their inspiration they obtained the necessary knowledge and were able to manufacture and invent as they have done for the benefit of the world. Without the help of the Lord they would have been just as helpless as the people were in other ages.” (Daniel K. Judd May 2001 Ensign, quoting Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, compiled by Bruce R. McConkie, 3 volumes (1954–56), 1:147.)

Moroni 7 Moroni 7:29–31. Angels help us walk peacably “Angelic messages can be delivered by a voice or merely by thoughts or feelings communicated to the mind. President John Taylor described ‘the action of the angels, or messengers of God, upon our minds, so that the heart can conceive revelations from the eternal world’ (Gospel Kingdom, sel. G. Homer Durham [1987], 31). Most angelic communications are more felt or heard rather than seen.” (Elder Oaks, “The Aaronic Priesthood and the Sacrament,” Ensign, Nov. 1998, 38–39).

Moroni 7 1 Corinthians 13:3 – Isn’t that charity? “Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other” (Elder Marvin J. Ashton, “The Tongue Can Be a Sharp Sword,” Ensign, May 1992, 19). Read Moroni 7:45-47 substituting the word ‘charity’ with “Christ” Moroni 7:28-29, 42-44, Three attributes of peaceable walkers
