What is Light in Art?
What is Value? Value has two very different meanings in art. “Monetary Value” is that VanGogh’s Sunflowers sold for 80 million dollars. “Value Scale” refers to the lightness or darkness of a color.
The art element “Value” is also known as tone or gray scale
Light creates highlights, mid- tones and shadows
Contrast is the arrangement of light and dark
High contrast has more black and white; low contrast has more gray values
