Basic needs are divided into physical needs and psychological needs In order to understand ourselves and others we must first know our basic needs. Basic needs are things you must have to be physically and mentally healthy, such as food, shelter, support and love. Basic needs are divided into physical needs and psychological needs Physical needs=things you need to survive (food, water, etc) Psychological needs= emotions and relationships (love, esteem, sense of worth, approval, etc.)
Humanist Psychology: Humanist focus upon potentials. Humanist do not believe that human being are pushed and pulled by mechanical forces, either of stimuli and reinforcements (behaviorism) or of unconscious instinctual impulses (psychoanalysis). They believe that humans strive for an upper level of capabilities. Humans seek the frontiers of creativity, the highest reaches of consciousness and wisdom.
Maslow said: All human behavior is motivated by a desire to satisfy needs. In order for a person to keep striving towards the ultimate in his/her growth there has to be a feeling of accomplishment

The last level=Self Actualization Some words that would describe Self Actualizing people might be: Moral Creative Spontaneous Lacks Prejudice Accepts Facts Examples of someone who is self- actualized might: Pray Problem Solve Develop Ideas that would help themselves and others. Help others Do the best they can do at what they do.
More than 1 level… Some behaviors may be more than one level. Example: Eating Dinner is both a Physical Need (food) and a Love and Belonging Need (social).
