The Staff Music is written on a staff. A Staff consists of 5 lines equally spaced. This is a staff.
The Staff The distance between any two lines on a staff is called a space. How many spaces are there on a staff? When numbering lines and spaces, always begin with the lowest line or space and count up.
Notation Notes are placed in the lines and in the spaces of the staff to make music. This is a line note This is a space note
The musical alphabet The first 7 letters of the alphabet are used in naming the lines and spaces of both clefs. A B C D E F G
The Treble Staff What is this? When you add a treble clef to a staff, it is called the treble staff.
The Treble Staff The names of the space notes in the treble staff spell FACE.
