Civil Protection Mechanism The main role of the Community Mechanism for Civil Protection is to facilitate co-operation in civil protection assistance interventions in the event of major emergencies, which may require urgent response actions. 6
Mechanism tools – The MIC Monitoring and Information Centre Situated in Brussels/operational 24/7 A “one stop shop” for civil protection assistance Collect, compile and disseminate information and requests Facilitate coordination of interventions Facilitation of transport (pooling, grants, broker) 7
