About D.A.D Development Association of the Disability (D.A.D) also called Apang Vikash Sangh in Nepali officially started in 2000 with nine founders in Udayapur District. Udayapur is situated in the eastern part of Nepal. Today the organization consists of nine members in the committee and 75 general members all with disabilities.

About D.A.D D.A.D has a partnership with the government, Action Aid Nepal and other organizations such as Nederland Leprosy Relief and local governance development committee. It is the leading organization within the disability sector in Udayapur District

What is your name? My name is Chandra Rai. When and where were you born? I was born on the 15th of March 1979 in Dicktel, Khotang District. Are you married? No, I´m divorced. Do you have children? Yes, I have a son. Where do you live? I live in Udayapur, Gaighat 2. How many family members live in your house? There are nine family members in my house. What is your disability and when did it start? I have a problem with both my legs. When I was born, there was no Polio medication and Hospital available, so I became very sick. My problem started when I was two years old. How long have you worked for D.A.D? In 2000 I started working for D.A.D. Now I am General secretary in D.A.D. What are your future dreams and visions for D.A.D and for yourself? My future vision is to improve and make disability friendly infrastructure and social environment for disabled people in Nepal. I also dream of changing the government policy.

What is your disability problem? When did it start? I´m physical disabled. My problem is Muscular Diastrophic. It started when I was seven years old, and slowly it became bigger and bigger. How long have you worked for D.A.D? I have worked for D.A.D since What are your future dreams and visions for D.A.D and for yourself? First of all I would like to work for the government. If it is not possible, I want to open my own business. I want to be a good D.A.D activist.

I have many future dreams for D.A.D and for myself. This organization is non dependent because it's developed and my vision for D.A.D is to develop and make one separate building for this organization.

I live in the V.D.C Basaha, Badel pani - 3 What is your disability problem? When did it start? I have low vision on one eye and on the other eye I have no vision at all. I was six years old I was playing Volleyball, when the ball hit my eyes, and the Retina was damaged. How long have you worked for D.A.D? I´m a founder of D.A.D and I started 13 years ago. What are your future dreams and visions for D.A.D and for yourself? First all of we need to define the problem for the disabled people in the village development community (VDC), then we can design a plan. My dream is to make balanced opportunities, advocacy, developing policy for people with disabilities.

Do you have children? I have one daughter and one son. How many family members are there in your house? In my house we are four family members. Where do you live? I live in Beltar V.D.C.in the village Jhorapata. What is your disability problem? When did it start? Are you disabled? My disability problem is physical in my left arm. When I was three years old it started, and I became very sick with high fever. I have problems carrying things, moving and using my arm. How long have you worked for D.A.D? I have worked for D.A.D since September What are your future dreams and visions for D.A.D and for yourself? My future dreams are in the disability sector. I want to build a unity for disabled people in Beltar V.D.C. I want to make awareness and improve the disability sector by planning and putting pressure on the government.

What is your name? My name is Khila Ghimire. When and where were you born? I was born in 1958 in Khotang Dicktel Buipa. Are you married? Yes. Do you have children? Yes, I have two sons and two daughters. How many family members are there in your house? We are six family members. My two daughters live in Kathmandu. What is your disability problem? When did it start? I´m physical disabled. It started thirteen years ago, when I was taking very hard medicine for cancer in my throat. As a reaction I have pain in my joints and low sensibility in my hands. How long have you worked for D.A.D? I started 7 years ago. What are your future dreams and visions for D.A.D and for yourself? I want to keep working for the disability sector, because there are many problems. There are many with no access for medicine, food and equipment such as wheelchairs.

About D.A.D Vision:  Build a strong disable friendly, peaceful and equal environment for disable people in a creative and community based society.  Developing D.A.D as an independent organization. Mission:  Finding local resources and use of resources to increase the power of disabled people.
