Gather The Lord be with you And also with you

Receive This Bible reading from Wisdom is used for Saint Aquinas because it reminds us that Aquinas wanted to understand reasons behind ideas about God and constantly sought new learning. Therefore I prayed, and understanding was given me; I called on God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me. I preferred her to sceptres and thrones, and I accounted wealth as nothing in comparison with her. Neither did I liken to her any priceless gem, because all gold is but a little sand in her sight, and silver will be accounted as clay before her. I loved her more than health and beauty, and I chose to have her rather than light, because her radiance never ceases. Wisdom: 7:7-10

Engage Saint Thomas Aquinas is the Patron Saint of Education. Thomas Aquinas has been described as the greatest thinker and teacher of the mediaeval church. Born in Italy, Thomas was educated first by the Benedictines and then at the University of Naples. His profound, theological wisdom and ability to teach others, along with his gentleness of spirit, earned him the title "the angelic doctor".

Aquinas is the name of a new Education Trust we belong to. Together with Parish Primary School and soon 2 other Primary Schools we are working together to improve our learning. Although we are different schools we share ideas and resources. Discussion question: Why do you think Aquinas is a good choice of name for an Education Trust?

The Aquinas Education Trust motto is Life~Transforming~Learning Discussion question: Why do you think this a good motto for The Aquinas Trust?

Respond Bestow upon me, O Lord my God, an understanding that knows thee, wisdom in finding thee, a way of life that is pleasing to thee, perseverance that faithfully waits for thee, and confidence that I shall embrace thee at the last. Amen St Thomas Aquinas ( )
