Matthew 24:42-44

1. YOU will see Him & hear Him! –“Come in like manner as you saw Him” – Acts 1:11 –“Behold…every eye will see Him” – Rev. 1:7 –“When He is revealed…we shall see Him as He is” – 1 John 3:2 –“Looking for the…glorious appearing” – Titus 2:13 –“Descend from heaven with a shout” – 1 Thess. 4:16 –“…with the voice of an archangel” – 1 Thess. 4:16 –“…with the trumpet of God” – 1 Thess. 4:16 –“All…will hear His voice” – John 5:28

2. YOU will be raised! –“The dead will be raised” – 1 Cor. 15:52 –“All in the graves will…come forth” – John 5:28-29 –“…those who have done good” – John 5:29 –“…and those who have done evil” – John 5:29 –“Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” – 1 Thess. 4:17 –This world is not my home!

3. YOU will be changed! –“…We shall all be changed” – 1 Cor. 15:51-52 –“…Corruption [cannot] inherit incorruption” – 1 Cor. 15:50 –He “will transform our lowly body” – Phil 3:21 –“…be conformed to His glorious body” – Phil 3:21 –“We shall be like Him” – 1 John 3:2 –So much emphasis put on our physical bodies  God wants us to focus on “the hidden person of the heart” – 1 Peter 3:4  “For man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

4. YOUR every possession will be burned up! –“Heaven and earth will pass away” – Matt. 24:35 –“Will pass away with a great noise” – 2 Pet. 3:10 –“Will melt with fervent heat” – 2 Pet. 3:10, 12 –“Will be burned up” – 2 Pet. 3:10 –“All these things will be dissolved” – 2 Pet. 3:11 –“Being on fire” – 2 Pet. 3:12 –We put so much emphasis on our stuff!  “One’s life does not consist in the abundance…” – Luke 12:15  “Then whose will those things be?” – 12:20  “For what profit if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” – Matt. 16:26

5. YOU will stand before Christ to be judged! –“It is appointed…the judgment” – Heb. 9:27 –Jesus “will sit on the throne” – Matt. 25:31 –“All the nations will be gathered” – Matt. 25:32 –“We shall all stand” – Rom. 14:10 –“We must all appear” – 2 Cor. 5:10 –“Judge the living and the dead” – 2 Tim. 4:1 –“The dead, small and great” – Rev. 20:12

6. YOU will bow & confess! –“…Every knee should bow…and that every tongue should confess” – Phil. 2:10-11 –“Every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” – Rom. 14:11

7. YOU will give account of yourself to God! –“…Standing before God, and books were opened” – Rev. 20:12 –“Judged according to their works” – Rev. 20:12 –“By the things written in the books” – Rev. 20:12 –“The word that I have spoken will judge” – John 12:48 –“Each of us shall give account” – Rom. 14:12 –“…That each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” – 2 Cor. 5:10 –“God will judge the secrets of men” – Rom. 2:16

8. YOU will be sentenced for eternity! –“Receive the things done in the body” – 2 Cor. 5:10 –Jesus “will separate” – Matt. 25:32 –To the righteous, “an entrance will be supplied…into the everlasting kingdom” – 2 Pet. 1:11  “Well done…Enter into the joy of your Lord” – Matt. 25:23  “Come…inherit the kingdom prepared for you…” – Matt. 25:34 –To the unrighteous, “in flaming fire taking vengeance…shall be punished” – 2 Thess. 1:8-9  “You wicked and lazy servant…” – Matt. 25:26, 30  “I never knew you; depart from Me…!” – Matt. 7:23  “…You cursed, into the everlasting fire…” – Matt. 25:41 –“Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” – Rev. 20:15

9. YOU will enter eternity, never to leave! –“These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” – Matt. 25:46 –“There is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us” – Luke 16:26 –Those in Christ “shall always be with the Lord” – 1 Thess. 4:17 –Those who do not obey the gospel “shall be punished with everlasting destruction away from the presence of the Lord” – 2 Thess. 1:8-9

YOU must believe Jesus is God’s Son – John 3:16 YOU must repent of your sins – Acts 17:30 YOU must confess your faith in Jesus – Mt. 10:32 YOU must be immersed in water – Acts 2:38 –Sins are forgiven – Acts 22:16 –Added to His church – Acts 2:47 –Registered in heaven – Hebrews 12:23 YOU must live ready to see Him – Matt. 24:42-44
