It makes a loud hoot that scares the birds away. Suddenly the trees get filled with chimpanzees!

Chimpanzees are very sociable and very intelligent! Chimpanzees belong to a group of animals. Chimpanzees are about the size of a 10 year old!! This animal would not make a good pet because it might attack you!

The chimpanzee lives in the thickest part of the African Jungle. The area the chimpanzee lives in Africa is near the equator. Throughout much of the chimpanzees habitat there is a rainy season. From March to December it will rain for a long time.

Chimpanzees are omnivores (eating plants, fruit, and meat). They eat mostly fruit. In long dry seasons when fruit is scarce, tree seeds, flowers, and bark become an important part of their diet. Chimpanzees eat big fruit with their hands. After eating for a while chimpanzees will know which fruit is ripe or not ripe. Plants take second place in what chimpanzees eat. There are about 80 different types of plants that chimpanzees eat. Three of them are leaves, buds and blossoms.

Chimpanzees live in loose communities which number anywhere from ten to over 100 individuals. The entire troop may never assemble all together, but they share a home range which is fiercely protected from intruders.

Population: An estimated 100,000 to 200,000 chimpanzees remain in the wild. Birth: Most mothers give birth to one young an average of every five to six years in the wild. Young chimpanzees stay with their mothers for up to ten years. Threats: Habitat destruction is the greatest threat of a chimpanzee. Large population decreases are also blamed on hunting

My ending comment: I really liked this project and would like to do it again! This is a really cool experience for me on, computers and chimpanzees. I would like to thank two people for taking the time to work me through this animal project. Those two people are, Mr. Routledge and Mr. Demone. Mr. Demone for helping me with computer stuff for my project, and Mr. Routledge for everything that he did for my project to look nicer. Thank you, Kyle
