Why I Chose My Topic Very interested in the effects of concussions. Want to help eliminate the threat. Help friends avoid concussions in the future.

Research I Found My research taught me so much new material about concussions. I learned about how concussions are truly caused by the brain even slightly touching the sides of the skull causing a blackout.

Research I Found It is important when studying a injury not just to know the cause but how to treat it. Numerous sources all had the same general guidelines for treatment of a concussion. Bed rest is the quickest and most effective way to cure a concussion.

Research I Found Famous Atheletes that have suffered a concussion: Sydney Crosby (NHL Pittsburgh Penguins Center) Junior Seau (Longtime Chargers LB. Committed suicide as a result of concussions) Darius Hayward-Bey (Oakland Raiders WR.) Troy Polamalu (Pittsburgh Steelers Safety)

Research I Found Studies showed that concussions did in fact effect players in their sports. Some players were not in the same mentality after their concussion. They had fears of suffering the injury again. Other players could not physically perform at the same level as before their injury.

Link Between Product and Research. Martial Arts is a contact sport, so fighters also suffer concussions. I have personally suffered a concussion. I want to be able to keep my friends safe.
