S OCIALIZATION Ascribed roles – assigned to a person simply by their bloodline, gender or culture. For example, Prince Charles will be King of England due to his royal blood. Achieved roles – earned through our accomplishment. For example, Roberta Bondar became Canada’s first astronaut due to hard work and commitment.
