The Periodic Table

 Elements are placed in certain locations within the periodic table based on their Atomic Number.

 A row is also known as a period on the Periodic Table.  The row/ period represents the number of rings or orbitals that around the nucleus of that element.

3 Main Categories on the Periodic Table  Metals are found to the left of the zig- zag line. They are also the MOST abundant group of elements on the periodic table.  Metalloids are found along the zig- zag line.  Non- metals are found to the right of the zig- zag line.

Know How to Find an Element  Know that groups/families/columns are vertical on the Periodic Table.  Know that periods are horizontal on the Periodic Table.  So if you were asked to find an element in period 5 and group 11, what element would it be.  It would be Ag- Silver.  How many protons does it have?  Know that is also has 47 Protons.
