The Robotics club is a service and learning club for students interested in Technology and Robotics. Club members will work on individual, group projects, and compete in robotic competitions. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) concepts are found and utilized in planning, designing, building, programming, and operating the robots. The SMS robotics club is a full year commitment that require students to be responsible and in good academic standing. We will participate in several events next year, including a LEGO Robotics challenge through the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), Vex Robotics Competition, and Flare.
What is a robot? There’s no precise definition, but by general agreement a robot is a programmable machine that imitates the actions or appearance of an intelligent creature–usually a human. To qualify as a robot, a machine has to be able to do two things: 1) get information from its surroundings, and 2) do something physical–such as move or manipulate objects.
