MELIA (Coordination Action, EC 6th FP) Kick-off Meeting Sevilla, 4-7 September 2006 Dissemination: possible targets and means Claudio Bogliotti CIHEAM-IAMB

Traditional dissemination is proved to have some success in research but fail to link with the other dimensions…. missing the interlinkage with real/usual life (societal dimension) missing the interlinkage with the politicians (political dimension and no policy dimension) difficulty to be understood and to identify dissemination needs difficulty to improve mutual trustfulness (project vs. stakeholders and society) produce no means of tangible and direct benefits (economic dimension) detached from an education based dissemination approach, possibly centred on children, youths and adults (social, institutional and environmental dimensions) unable to produce true motivation in citizens and politicians difficult follow-up after dissemination more interest to increase own visibility and show own knowledge rather than developing sustainable means of communication for dissemination

Targets and means Targets Citizens (adults) Children and youths Stakeholders & Decision Makers Politicians Researchers Means Project Info-Days (local) Public meetings (multi-stake) (local) Short schools (local) Working meetings (local) Demand-based WEB Vision documents Link-playing in other relevant projects Scientific contribution to relevant conferences Media tools like TV series
