Où irais-tu en vacances? La France

Introduction Have you ever wanted to travel to France? There are hundreds of cities in France including the capital Paris. These beautiful cities are home to historical cites, museums, cathedrals, elegant restaurants and an array of other attractions. What would you do when you arrived to this city? Where would you go, what would see and eat? How would you explore the city?  Would you need to exchange money?  These are all questions to ponder as you begin this journey.

Task Your team works at a travel agency and your job is to create a travel brochure to a city in France (approved by the teacher).  The brochure will inform its readers of restaurants, airfare, hotels, currency rates, transportation and cultural activities and excursions offered in the city. Your team will put together a compelling and persuasive presentation in French on either  PowerPoint or a poster  to promote tourism in the chosen city.  This will be presented to the class. After all of the presentations are completed, each student will vote on which destination would be his ideal vacation spot.

Process #1 Create a group of three and choose a city in France from the provided list.  Make sure that you approve the country with your teacher List of Cities

Process #2 In you travel brochure, you must include the following information: Airfare to and from the destination(think about the most efficient travel, the most inexpensive travel and flight connections) Two hotels that one could stay at and the price Money currency and the exchange rate Four cultural activities that one could do in the city and how much it would cost Three restaurants one could eat at, the type of food, and how much it would cost The type of transportation used in the city and how much it would cost The estimated price of  a vacation at this destination staying at one of the researched hotels for one week, doings the four researched activities, eating at the three restaurants, and including airfare and transportation

Process #3 You must also include: The name of your city A map locating your city in France Pictures of the four cultural activities described above (colored in) At least 5 other pictures that relate to the vacation such as the food, restaurants, hotels, money etc. (colored in)

Process #4 and 5 All of this information will be put together in French in the form of a PowerPoint or travel brochure. You and your group will then give a 5-10 minute presentation promoting the tourism of the city.

Process #6 During each presentation excluding your own, you will take notes on the provided paper highlighting the pros and cons of each city.  After all of the presentations, you will vote for your favorite destination.  Your sheet of notes will be collected and counted as part of your grade.

Resources www.wordreference.com (An online dictionary with up to date phrases, translations, and verb conjugations) www.xe.com (A site including exchange rates and a currency converter) www.expedia.com (An online travel booking site for hotels and airlines) http://us.franceguide.com/ (A site giving information about all of the main cities and regions in France. ) http://www.francetourism.com/index.htm (A site about the tourism and traveling in France.)

Conclusion As you reflect upon the completion of this project, think about the following questions: How much time goes into planning a week vacation to a foreign country? Where would you choose to go after being exposed to an array of cities in France? Did you ever imagine that there were so many great cities in France to visit?
