WHAT’S COMING…

LA LIBRARIES: CONNECTING PEOPLE TO THEIR POTENTIAL  $8,797,668 BTOP stimulus grant  3-year grant  Will be coordinated from the SLOL  Requires 20% in kind match which will be provided primarily by vendors  6-7 contractors added to SLOL IT staff  4 mobile laptop labs for training

STIMULUS GRANT CONT’D Public libraries will receive:  Assistive technology  Laptops to be checked out  Wireless routers for every branch  Over 2,770 training sessions for the general public and library staff  Additional electronic resources: online after school tutoring, career development resources and health and medical database

STIMULUS GRANTS, ROUND 2  State Library will reapply for a second grant: –Upgrade internal public library connections –Improved technology support –Additional high-level technology training for library staff –Partner with community colleges for training sites  Application deadline March 15th.
