Red Turpentine Beetle (Dendroctonus valens) Host: Ponderosa and lodge pole pine. Can infest any pine species Beetle gallery Largest & Weakest Trees are attacked: Trees also injured by fire, logging, and other damages Very Large Red Pitch tubes

Western Pine Beetle (Dendroctonus brevicomis) Host: Ponderosa Pine Kills trees that are less than 6 inches

Mountain Pine Beetle (Dendrotonus ponderosae) Hosts: All Native and introduced species of pines Kills trees less than 5 inches

Douglas Fir Beetle (Dendroctonus pseudotsugae) Hosts: Douglas Fir, Western Larch Attack trees less than 12 inches
