Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacterium. Syphilis can cause long term complications, maybe even death if they aren’t treated properly. When you get syphilis you will have pimples and bumps on your body. Sores also can occur on the lips and in the mouth.
The first stage of this disease is when it becomes sore on the skin that initially exposed to the infection. The sore feels like a button. Overtime there starts to be lots of swelling. If you don’t treat the disease you will go to the second stage of Syphilis. You will begin having fevers, sore throats, and lots more. If you don’t get the second stage treated you will began having brain damage, blood deficiency and lots more.
You can get syphilis by having sex with someone who has it. You can get syphilis when your mouth, genitals, or another part of your body touches a syphilis sore on a person who has the disease. Pregnant women with the disease can pass it to their babies.
You can protect yourself from getting syphilis by having sex with a partner who doesn’t have the disease. One main thing to do is have sex with only one person not more than that. If you do have the disease and you have the sex with one person you are only passing the disease to them instead of more people. Using Condoms for a man is a key thing.
If left untreated, syphilis can eventually cause damage to the brain, nerves, eyes, heart, blood vessels, liver, bones, and joints. In extreme cases it can cause difficulty in muscle movements, numbness, blindness, mental illness, and even death. If you have syphilis and are pregnant, it can cause serious birth defects.
Yes, there is a cure for Syphilis. In the next slide we will be showing you some of the ways to cure this horrible infection.
If you find out that you have Syphilis and you get it treated right away all you need to do is takes antibiotics. Another thing you can do to help fight this disease is to take antibiotic shots everyday. For a man, one thing he has to do to protect himself and his partner is to make sure that he uses a condom.
