 2010 Post-program survey (114 respondents) 90% felt more knowledgeable 74% felt more capable 75% reported being more interested in science and engineering 65% felt more confident  Follow up survey (260 respondents, SSEP): 98% continued to take science courses in high school 63% (of those in college) chose a major in STEM 70% reported either choosing or planning to choose a career in STEM I guess the SSEP was one of those influences that allowed me to just simply know that I can do science. (former participant completing her fourth year of a Ph.D. program in organic chemistry) It is wonderful to think of the summer I spent at Smith - what good memories! That experience changed my sense of what was possible. (former participant upon finishing her residency in internal medicine at Columbia) SSEP really enlightened me into the world of science. After the SSEP, science became my passion. (former participant who majored in biology in college and now is a high school science teacher)
