ndefined&page=undefined&pageregion=undefined&guid=undefined&from=und efined&__pcode=srchrv ndefined&page=undefined&pageregion=undefined&guid=undefined&from=und efined&__pcode=srchrv As with most modern songs this has a meter that feels like 4/4 or C time but I believe it may be more of a 2/4 feel. The tempo is what I would call moderato-allegro & vivace 0:00-0:10 Intro; starts with one big note including cymbals, drums, bass guitar, lead guitar, rhythm guitar. After which it alternates between the big opening note and rhythm guitar only. 0:10-0:11; There is a slight pickup from drums and other instruments to note that the song is really getting going. 0:11-0:20; lead guitar “solo” part I (for lack of better word, not a true solo as it has other instruments playing) 0:20-0:28; Lead guitar “solo” part II 0:28-0:32; Lead guitar playing high notes descending the scale noting that something is about to change in the music. (lyrics are to start) 0:32; Lyrics start, lead guitar fades into the rest of the instruments which have followed a slight diminuendo in loudness so as the lyrics can be better heard and better understood. Verse I 0:32-0:52 (at 0:47 the lead guitar runs a small ascending scale of just a few notes to make things interesting.) (cont. on next slide) Seventy Times 7
0:52-1:01; Chorus 1:02 Short pause in lyrics while music bridges the gap between chorus and verse II 1:03 Verse II; repeats with same music as verse I as if reading a Coda in music, 1:24 Chorus repeated x2 with singer overlapped in background singing and repeating other lyrics non- discernable. 1:45 Break in lyrics, beginning of bridge. Occasionally throughout entire bridge, lead guitar plays a few notes of the melody to keep it alive 2:05-2:26 Bridge part I; the bass is playing very basic C time 8th notes and instead of shouting, the singer has moved to a quieter more singing like tone, effect placed on singer’s voice to make it sound like he’s singing through a microphone (imagine that…) (cont. on next slide)
2:27-2:47 Bridge part II; effect on singers voice taken off, tone of voice moved more towards talking, made piano. Where “*” back up singer singing homophony, not quite harmony, but my guess is that it adds an element of disjunct to the music and creates unrest for the crescendo at the end transferring back into bridge part I. 2:47-3:09 Bridge part I repeat, this time music has moved to FF singer is shouting lyrics, as if drums, lead guitar and rhythm guitar were reading rests in music and were finally able to play again. 3:09-End repeats chorus x2 in polyphonic texture while lead singer has “freak out” tone while shouting more non-discernable lyrics. I don’t know how else to describe it.

I would say the tempo is allegro to presto bouncing between the two through the song. The verses are sung metzo-piano, chorus as F and bridge as FF 0:00-0:02 ; The song begins with a pickup of 3 notes from the guitar which are allowed to ring the song is set in a minor mode as is indicated by these three first notes, mid, lower, higher than mid. 0:02-0:23; The drums pickup the rhythm and the guitar overlaps the ringing pickup notes by playing the melody. 0:23-0:45; Verse I, the lyrics to the song begin, overtop the repeating drum and guitar lines. 0:045-1:04; For the next lines the tempo slows, the dynamics diminish to piano, the guitar and the singer are all that are heard, the guitar playing a very simple line until 1:03 where the drums play a note to note the start of the chorus and a change in tempo and dynamics to F and presto.
1:04-1:26; Chorus, all instruments playing F and presto 1:26-1:47; The tempo and dynamics return to the songs normal Verse tempo and dynamics, music is repeated but the lyrics change, 1:47-2:07 Repeats same dynamics and tempo as before 2:07-2:27 Chorus repeats same tempo and dynamics as before until the end, the Intruments continue playing F while the singer is FF, the music differs slightly for the bridge but over all keeps the same melody. The tone of lyrics for the bridge has been recorded by the vocalist several times in several different variations of dynamic and timber all played at once chaos affect achieved. 2:27-2:50 Bridge; (cont. on next slide)
2:50-2:59; Tempo returns to normal singer sings Mezzo Piano, by 2:58 the drums start a series of staccato notes that signal the movement back into chorus 2:59-3:25 Coda to main chorus ;end

All elements are Mezzo Piano with a tempo of Andante. 1:00-1:22 More than one singer sings homophonically the next lines while guitar one accents the music in the background with very high slightly vibratoed notes. (cont. on next slide)
1:22-1:42 Music Codas to verse 1, lyrics change, 1:42-2:25 More than one singer sings homophonically the next lines while guitar one accents the music in the background with very high slightly vibratoed notes. 2:25-3:10 Musical bridge all instruments continue minus vocals, guitar 1 plays own melody while guitar 2 continues to play backup piece. 3:10-3:47 Bridge starts the bass changes and the melody changes slightly vocals are sung one line normal one line arched one line normal one line 3:47-4:15 Vocals sing F with back up singers in polyphony the songs tempo has not changed but due to the previous melodic changes and drums play mF it sound like the song is gearing up for a finish 4:15-4:20 Instruments fade out except for guitar one which plays a “last note” theats allowed to ring. 4:20-4:26 Silence 4:26-5:13 Insturments coda to 0:15 at 5:13 all instruments let last note ring 5:13-5:18 Instrument’s note diminishes

1:05-1:18 Add in male child talking 1:18-1:23 Minus male child speaking 1:23- 1:39 Verse 2; all instruments begin playing again including vocals, bass playing very arched notes that give a different partially disjunct feel to the music. 1:39- 2:14 Chorus part 1 tempo moves to Andante vocals in homophony drums start being very staccato and disjunct bass continues disjunct arches there is also what sounds like a light tambourine in the background of the music, background vocals consist of someone repeating “and on and on and on” 2:14 Begin part 2 of chorus, guitar 2 playing disjunct notes 2:50-3:06 Vocals stop instruments fade to only one guitar playing P the main melody of the song. Song ends.
