Adaptations of Pandas By: Deanna Smith

Head A panda’s head is very large because bamboo is a very hard, thick plant, and they need very large jaws to chew it.

Sixth Toe A panda’s foot has a sixth toe. This toe helps them grasp the bamboo so that they can eat easier. It also helps pulling the roots from the ground.

Stomach Their stomach is very muscular because bamboo is so hard to digest. It needs to me stronger than an average bear.

Esophagus A Panda’s esophagus has very thick lining to that it doesn’t tear when they swallow the bamboo.

Legs Since pandas are always climbing and eating bamboo, Their legs have strong muscles

Water Panda’s get all the water they need from bamboo (one stick is 90% water). Larger pandas get water Also from streams made from melted snow coming Off of the tall mountains.

Fur A panda’s fur keeps it warm in cold climates.

Thanks for watching!
