Memory Verse “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

Learning Goals Explore: Students will understand that prayer is the means through which we communicate with God. Transform: Students will begin the process of writing and recording the progress of their prayers over the next month.

Discussion How does addressing God as “Father” affect the way that you talk to Him? How does thinking about prayer as a way to communicate with God change how important you think prayer is in the life of a believer? What have been your expectations for God’s response when you have prayed in the past? How have those expectations changed in light of today’s lesson? Why do you think it is so important that God gives us His Holy Spirit when we ask?

Key Study 1. We should pray eagerly because God has graciously given us the opportunity to talk with Him. Luke 11:1–4

Key Study 2. We should pray boldly because God doesn’t need convincing to listen to us. Luke 11:5–8

Key Study 3. We should pray confidently because God will answer us. Luke 11:9–13
