The Sonoran desert is in North America in the southwestern states of Arizona and California and into Mexico. It is the hottest desert in the United states. The temperature can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Saguaro cactus only grows in the Sonoran desert. It is a very slow growing plant, but can grow to 60 feet tall. The yucca plant has long spikes like leafs and grows a bell shaped white flower. The roots of the yucca can be pounded and soaked then used to make shampoo.

We chose to learn about the black widow spider. It is black with a reddish hourglass Shape on its stomach. It is extremely poisonous! The Gila monster is a huge venomous Lizard. This meat-eating lizard is nocturnal. Scorpions are arthropods. They have eight Legs and are hairy. They can be Dangerous

The interaction we found is with the elf owl and the cactus. The elf owl finds a hole Made by a woodpecker or Gila monster and nests in it. The elf owl is only as big as a pop Can.

. Some interesting facts we found about this desert, it gets 10 inches of rain in a year. It covers over 100,000 square miles
