Presentation transcript:

 Microsoft Photo Editor  HP Photo Smart  Picassa  iPhoto  Many, many, more.  Often comes with your computer, printer or camera.  Allows you to edit photos, print, them, share them via , publish them online for friends and family.

 Most common is JPG (called J-PEG)  Stands for  Joint Photographic Experts Group  TIF, PNG, GIF, also common but JPG is pretty much standard and preferred now.  Don’t confuse with MP3 (music files) or WMV. MP4 (video files)  If you receive a photo, song or video in an attachment you will see these letters called file extensions.

 Cropping – Selecting a certain section of the photo and getting rid of the rest.

 Standard sizes for resolutions -- Pixels( dpi)  1024 x 768, 800 x 600, 640 x 480, or 320 x 240  The smaller the size, the less space (KB) it takes up, but also the less resolution…Clarity of picture.  You may need to reduce the size of a photo before you it. 640 x 480 works pretty well.  Reducing the size before you send it as an attachment will ensure that the person you are sending it to does not get a really big photo with Whale Eyes

This photo needed to be smaller!!

You can do this for any file type but it comes in really handy for labeling photos. DSCN0186Bear eating salmon Right click on the photo. Type in the new name. Pretty easy!
