BSc in Psychology

Psychology at DCU  Level 8 Award  Commencing Sept 2010  Four year full-time Programme  Innovative inter-collegiate and cross-faculty modules  Intra placement in semester 2 of year 3  Intake of 40 students per year

What is psychology? Scientific study of human mind and behaviour: how we think, how we act, how we react and interact, both individually and as groups.

Scope of Psychology

Helping people to overcome depression, stress, trauma or phobias Easing the effects of parental divorce on children Speeding up recovery from brain injury Helping to stop or prevent bullying at school or in the workplace Ensuring that school pupils and students are being taught in the most effective way Making sure that people are happy at work and perform to the best of their abilities Helping athletes and sports people to perform better

Entry Requirements and PSI Accreditation  In addition to DCU minimum entry requirements -OC3 or HD3 in Maths  Points have not yet been established but in or around 500  As per PSI guidelines, seeking accreditation upon commencement of the programme  Programme designed to meet all PSI requirements, enhancing likelihood of successful accreditation

For UK students Entry Requirements: Three As at A level or depending on demand two As and a B, plus GCSE Level C Mathematics Fees – 1538 per Academic Year All applicants apply through the CAO by the 1 st February and 1 st May Mature Applicants apply through the CAO by 1 st February
