Important Times A.School Starts at 8:10 am B.Daily Conference Time: 2:35- 3:30 (Music/Art/PE occur at this time) ~Mrs.~Mrs.Carroll Ext ~Mrs. Davis Ext C.Library ~Every other Wednesday D.Lunch: 11:10- 11:40 If you visit your child for lunch please note that we are no longer allowing a friend on stage with them due to crowed spaces, thank you.

Class Schedule 8:10 – 8:45 – Warm up/Silent Reading 8:45-9:45 – Intervention/Small Groups 9:45-11:10- Block #1, Core Subjects 11:10-11:40 Lunch 11:40-12:00 - Recess 12:00-12:30 – Block #1 cont. 12:30-12:35 – Switch 12:35-2:30 – Block #2, Core Subjects 2:35-3:30 – Specials/ conference 3:30-3:40–Dismissal – If there is ever a change in your child’s transportation please send, fax, or a note.

Making corrections is always a good idea and grades can be reconsidered.

Language Arts Curriculum A.READING(1 st year to take state Reading STAAR) “Reading to Learn”- comprehension strategies, fluency, and vocabulary Read a variety of literature using novels in groups, and independently Study reading skills, (main idea, context clues, summarization, cause and effect, fact and opinion, inferences) within the context of literature. B.WRITING-Writing Write original pieces in different modes such as narrative, persuasive, informative, or compare/contrast

Math & Science Curriculum Scope and Sequence

Fact Proficiency In 2nd and 3rd grade, students will be assessed on their math fact fluency on a regular basis as required by the TEKS for their grade level. Weekly assessments will be taken and the average of those weekly assessments will account for 1/2 of a major grade for students for the nine weeks. This ½ of a major grade will be in addition to the 3 major grades taken in each nine weeks. (Chris Scott- Math Director)

Attendance Attendance is vital to student learning! We begin at 8:25 and continue to 3:40 everyday Send a note the day after an absence so we can mark it excused or unexcused If no note within 2 days, the absence is UNEXCUSED- See page 4 in Student handbook

Lunch Money If you need to add lunch money to the account, you can log onto to prepay. You can also send cash or check with your child to school.

Snack Time You may send a snack with your child daily. Please refrain from sending anything that needs a spoon or is sticky and messy. They keep it at their desk and eat it at their discretion during the day.

PE Participation A.A doctors note must be provided for any student who is to be excused from PE for 3 or more days B.Your child should wear (or bring) tennis shoes with them on days they go to PE

Medications (Prescribed and OTC) A.Parents must bring the student’s mediciation to the nurse. B.Medications must be kept in the nurse’s office. C.The nurse will dispense medications (only exception will be on field trips) D.A note must accompany cough drops.

Parties and Birthdays 2 Class Parties –Christmas –Valentine’s Day The Homeroom Coordinator will be in contact with you. Birthdays- (cupcakes/cookies are optional) –Parents are welcome to come have lunch with their child.
