Warwick in Africa What is it? “Warwick in Africa is a philanthropically funded programme, developed over eight years from a small student volunteering project to a multi-layered programme which supports learners and their teachers with Maths and English education in South Africa, Tanzania and Ghana”. What did we achieve? 120,000 learners and 780 teachers have benefited. 100 WIA teachers and team teaching with universities of Stellenbosch, Venda and NUS as well as E & Y. New pilot in Morogoro was a big success. Impact on attendance and performance maintained (up typically 50% and 30 – 40% respectively). 90% learners find Maths and English easier after WIA experience. Over £1.3 million has been raised. WIA teachers raised £44,000! Cost of teaching a learner reduced from £16 to £11.
