During the day, the Sun appears to move across the sky.

But the Sun doesn’t move. It’s actually the Earth that moves. It spins on its axis.

The axis is an imaginary line that runs through the middle of the Earth from the North Pole to the South Pole. Earth’s axis

As you can see the Earth is on a slight angle to the Sun. Earth’s axis

As the Earth spins different parts of the Earth face towards the Sun. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

As the Earth spins different parts of the Earth face towards the Sun. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

As the Earth spins different parts of the Earth face towards the Sun. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

As the Earth spins different parts of the Earth face towards the Sun. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. North Pole South Pole Day Night Earth’s axis

North Pole South Pole Day Night So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. Earth’s axis

North Pole South Pole Day Night So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. Earth’s axis

North Pole South Pole Day Night So what causes day and night? The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. Earth’s axis

Earth’s axis play again
