Asma’s story Fled from fighting and now lives in poverty in Damascus Asma and her family survive on aid Staff and children from the SOS Children’s Villages in Syria are supporting many families like Asma’s.

SOS Children providing aid Emergency relief provided to 5,700+ people Committed to helping most vulnerable people Helping mothers make sure their babies are well nourished & healthy Hopes to help at least 15,000 people Aims to get 6,000 children back to school in September 2013

‘My Right to Education’ The main focus in Autumn 2013 is getting Syrian children back to school 2 million children (40% of students) have dropped out of school this year

‘My Right to Education’ Aim: to get 16,000 children back to school in Damascus, Aleppo & Latakia. Back to school kits are being distributed, including a back bag, five note books, a colouring book, pens and pencils. School uniforms and registration fees are also arranged for 1,000 children living around Damascus. As schools have been destroyed or used as homes for displaced people, children will attend school in shifts. Many will have to attend at night.

Violence forced Khalid to leave home Khalid was doing well in 6 th grade but going to school became impossible The local mosque eventually helped him register at a school SOS Children became aware of Khalid’s situation and provided him with new clothes and an SOS School Kit Khalid’s story SOS Children are also supporting him in after school sessions to help him catch up
