CAREER MANAGEMENT

No matter where you went to school, no matter what your grades were, no matter how much experience you have, no matter who you know – if you are not able to decide on the choice of your career, if you do not know what you want to do and what type of job you will be happy in, if you do not go through the process of analyzing yourself and finally, if your interview does not go well, you won’t get the job.

The progress and actions taken by a person throughout a lifetime, especially those related to that person's occupations. A career is often composed of the jobs held, titles earned and work accomplished over a long period of time, rather than just referring to one position. businessdictionary.com Career

Career planning is essential for everyone. It involves skilful management of your career. It involves identifying a career goal and devising a plan to reach that goal. A career goal sets the direction for your career strategy. Career Planning

Career Management is the pathing, planning, and development of one’s work schedules and activities in relation to the individual’s abilities, skills, competencies at the initiative and with the assistance of management in order that he can take greater job and personal responsibility for his future. The individual informally traces the path along which he moves onward in his career in accordance with his aspirations and desires. Thus, career pathing is the first stage in career management. Career Management

Why do I want to work? What career path am I heading? What job can I do? What is the best work for me? Am I ready to work? What are my priorities? What are my expectations and perception towards work?

I work because I need to survive.. I work to earn a living for the support of my family.. I work because I find in it a means to express myself.. I work because I learn while working.. I work to fill my days..

Man has strong urge to survive Man belongs to a natural family Work is a mean’s of self- expression Man works in order to serve himself, his family, and society Purpose for Man’s Work

Pointers on Career Management

You can’t decide what you want from a job until you are clear about what you want from life. Other people will tell you what you would want from life. You do not have to accept their answers – ban “should” from your job search.

Different people are impressed by different things. What do you want to be admired for? By whom? The keys to what you really want are the things you do not like to admit.

Some people are big-city types, others are happier in small towns. Do not be afraid to ask about the job People do not care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

Do not worry about whether you will be good at something. Do not plan too far ahead. Take a job because it will make you happy now, not because it may make you happy tomorrow.
