3 Basics (pages 0-2 to 0-5) Logging on only applies to Campus computers Initial Windows Screen Taskbar: along bottom Start: right click → Properties (to customize) Icons on Desktop: right click, drag (Create shortcuts here) right click, delete (to remove) Mouse: two buttons, left for action, right for menu

4 Navigate the File System (pages 0-5 to 0-9) Follow the folders Windows Explorer: shows overview of file system on the left Start → All Programs → Windows Explorer short cut: right click Start, select Explorer to launch programX: (a typical application) Start → All Programs → select programX

5 Command Menus of Windows Explorer (pages 0-9 to 0-16) every program has a set of pull-down command menus (pre-Office 2007) ribbon menu has replaced pull-down menu create new folder: File → New → Folder copy a file: 1. select file, 2. Edit → Copy, 3. navigate to another folder, 4. Edit → Paste move a file: similar to copy drag and drop: copy/move across devices
