My Music Magazine Proposal Aleksandra Patrycja Nibisz

Name: Ormagoden Tag line: Goth. Metal. Music. I chose this name because Ormagoden is the legendary fire beast, the molten iron monster and the cremator of the sky. He is the sole reason there is a music genre known as ‘Heavy Metal’. I thought this name would be perfect for my music magazine because of its genre.

My Genre and Sub Genre The main genre for my music magazine will be Rock and the sub genre will be Goth Metal. I chose this genre because I like to listen to Rock music, especially Goth Metal. Another reason why I chose the genre is because I really like to listen to a band called ‘Evanescence‘ and they specialise in Goth Metal.

Audience The audience for my music magazine will be both men and women aged I want to target that particular age segment as I think at that age people will be most likely to purchase a Goth Metal magazine. I think they will be the most interested in a magazine of such genre, however some people over the age of 25 will still be able to buy the magazine and enjoy what is written in it.

Picture Ideas

Other Magazine Ideas I like this magazine cover because of the simple colours and layout. The main colours are black and red which is what I would like to do on my magazine cover. I also like the simple picture of the band, they are not trying to pose but are being their normal selves. I also like how there is one sentence at the bottom of the magazine cover which makes the reader want to read the whole article. I want to use this as well on my magazine cover. The name ‘Metal Hammer’ is written in the same way and is in the same place every month this helps create a brand name. Also the article names are written on the top of the cover. This makes the main picture really clear and easy to see. It is not crowded.

Ideas Colour The main colours that I will use on my front cover will be black, dark purple and red. I want to use these colours because they go really well with the Goth Metal genre.

Planned Content My magazine will include a variety of content. Some of this content will be: Music News Main Article Other Articles Music Reviews Contents Page ‘Most Downloaded Tracks of the Month’ Chart Preview of the Next Issue Photos of Musicians Posters Example of a Contents Page

Unique Selling Point The unique selling point of my magazine is the genre. There aren’t any Goth Metal music magazines out there and mine will be the first. Goth Metal music is not very popular but it has loyal fans who would purchase this type of magazine. It will be a music magazine with a very specific genre and it will be unlike the general music magazine. In the magazine there will be competitions in which the readers can win goods such as t-shirts, CDs, mugs, autographs and things like that. Also in each issue there will be a couple of posters inserted into the magazine for the younger readers. The posters will be of popular Goth metal bands and artists.

Reader’s Profile The reader is a young girl, 17 years old. She goes to 6th Form and studies Art, Media, History and Drama. She has a part time job in Morrisons. She is a typical teenage goth girl. In her spare time she likes to listen to Goth Metal and other Metal music. She has been listening to that type of music for a long time. She first heard it when her best friend played her some Goth Metal tracks at the age of 9. From that time Goth Metal and Metal music is the only one she listens to. Her favourite bands include Evanescence, HIM, Nightwish and Type O Negative. Music is a very important part of her life.

Editorial Mission Statement Ormagoden wants to to give its customers the latest news about the Goth Music industry, concerts, events and generally bring the stars closer to the customers. It also wants some new bands to be created, if they write to the magazine and ask to be featured in it. This way more people will know more about the small independent bands which are trying to make it big.
