Cookie Courtesy: Cupboards & Booths
Cupboards Please remind your troops: Cupboards are VOLUNTEERS – this means they should be respectful, kind and courteous. Thank them for their time and dedication – they deal with a lot! Always Be Prepared – bring your purple access card OR username and password (for those using the online feature) ONLY show up during cupboard hours – do not knock or call a cupboard outside of their posted hours – they have jobs, families and are (in most cases) troop leaders or SU Cookie Managers. The hours are provided to ensure they have time for the other parts of their lives as well and are not inundated 24/7 with cupboard
Booths Confirmation, Confirmation, Confirmation – push this with your troops. It solves MOST booth issues a troop will encounter Arrive/Leave on time – start set-up at the beginning of the booth time and be torn down by the end (i.e. my booth is 3 – 5 p.m. I will set up starting at 3 and be torn down and out of the way by 5) Etiquette – is a MUST. We lose booth locations yearly to poor etiquette. (troop manual pg. 39) Cancel Booths – IF a troop cannot work a booth they should cancel it in the system. This gives other troops the option to work it. (troop manual pg. 42)
Blue Ribbon Booths Each SU Cookie Manager will receive 5 certificates and 10 stickers in late Jan/early Feb. Other key cookie volunteers will have them to hand out, too! Use these to challenge your troops – maybe hand out a small prize (you could order things from your rally form!) to any troop who brings one to the next Service Unit meeting! Hand them out when you see an exceptional booth Doing the right things and following booth etiquette Girls asking Dressed appropriately No tagalongs
Handling Booths That Need Coaching Pull the leader aside, explain who you are, and coach them on the changes they should make to ensure they are having a safe and fun booth Explain that when we break the Booth Etiquette we run the risk of losing that location for all Girl Scouts (this happens yearly – we still have locations we haven’t been back in for 5+ years due to one bad troop) If you need council to step in contact the Cookie Hotline at option 2. This line is connected to a staff member ALL weekend and we can help handle the issue. We will need at least one of the following to help deal with the situation: Troop Number OR Location, Date and Time
