Professor Bobbi Morrison What is Retailing? Retailing encompasses the business activities involved in selling goods and services to consumers for their personal, family, or household use. It includes every sale to the final consumer with emphasis on goods rendered without transformation.

Professor Bobbi Morrison Course Objectives The objectives of this course are: To focus on the importance of the retailer as an intermediary in the supply chain; To provide an introduction to the Canadian retail environment with a focus on the competitive environment, types of retail organizations and recent trends and developments; To examine each of the components of the retail strategy mix including location, merchandise management, pricing, promotion and operational considerations; To encourage interest in the retailing industry for students who plan to pursue employment in this area; To engage students in class discussion and participation in groups and in- class; and To provide an opportunity to practice and further develop effective communication skills.
