Seattle space needle By Charlotte Keane

Needle History... The space needle was created for the 1962 worlds fair in Seattle. The creator was Edward E Carlson. He was the head of Western International hotels. Edwards first sketch was on a coffee shop’s placemat. The creation was based on the Stuttgart tower in Germany, along with the Eiffel tower in Paris. The proposed needle had no land on which to be built on. It had not been financed by the city, land had to be bought off the fairground. Investors thought that there would be no space to build a tower. But they found land!!! It sold for 75,000$. As a record while being built, the needle was taller than the smith tower across town!!!!!!
