Click User Use your US number for User ID and verification Signing on as a user Anyone can use the OPAC without having to sign on. However, you have to sign on if you wish to: check your user information request items renew items
Sign-out Once you have identified yourself, the following details are available. A Sign-out button appears on the left hand side of the top menu bar. Remember to SIGN OUT after a session Click on Loans to renew your books

3 Ways of searching for library sources Browse Keyword Search Basic Search Multi-base Get
Browse the alphabetical list of title, author or subject, etc. Use the Browse function when you have an exact author, title or subject etc. Browse
Browse Click on Browse search Click on drop down menu Select Title or Author, etc.
Basic Search Allows you to perform a keyword search in all fields, or from either title, author or subject Keyword Search
Truncation is possible. Using ? or * will expand your search You can use Boolean operators e.g.: revolution not (French or France) Indicate whether you want the words to be adjacent or not Basic Search

Reservation/Requesting of library material (1) A request link on the holdings screen allows users to request items out on loan The date when an item must be returned
Reservation/Requesting of library material (2) Use your new US number for user ID and Verification If you have not signed on as a user before, this window will appear after selecting request on the holdings screen. Click on request again after you have signed on to order the requested item.

To view any particular record in full format, click on: the NUMBER of the item (to the left) or Full format (under Results list)

You can enter new terms, from all fields or a selected field, and apply boolean logic – AND, OR or NOT
Limit You can limit your search by year, format, language, location, etc. (The languages listed are not a comprehensive list. Other languages still have to be added.) e.g. to get a list of all the Chemistry journals, type Chemistry under all fields in the keyword search and limit with filter by format – Serials (Journals…..)
