Protagonist ●main character ○ hero and heroine usually create a connotation of nobility and dignity, which isn't always true for the protagonist. ■ ex) Holden Caulfield ○ Sometimes the protagonist can be evil. In this case, the antagonist will be portrayed as a sympathetic character. ● ex) Megamind

Antagonist and Villain character that opposes the protagonist’s goals and interests and so creates a major conflict. Ex: Poseidon in Homer’s “The Odyssey” A villain is an antagonist with evil intentions.
