Edgar Allan Poe, was born on January 19 th, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. He started to write stories, which five of them were published in the Philadelphia Saturday Courier. He was different from other people, because they didn’t know what scary or horror was. People knew comedies, and drama, but scary wasn’t around until’ Poe created odd, scary stories.

He moved in with his other family, because his dad didn’t want him. He fell in love with his 13 year old cousin Virginia when he was 26, but lied to people saying she was 21. His father was dying because of the same disease all his family had. Tubercolious. When he dies he didn’t leave Poe anything but gave his other kids whatever. Edgar was the master of horror.

It was assumed that he died of liver failure brought on by a life of drunken excess. Recent examination of the evidence, however, has indicated that after his death his body exhibited symptoms of diabetes or rabies. While shortly before his death, he was reported behaving in a manner consistent with mild epilepsy, or perhaps a flare-up of bipolar disorder. Other theories suggested have included syphilis, a digestive disorder, or even murder. I believe he was murdered because he was creepy and weird, and all the stories that he created were unusual because all the stories were different and not scary.

My favorite story by Edgar, had to be “The Masque of the Red Death.” It was about all these different colored rooms, that all had meanings of life. From the start of being born, to death. The black room had a clock that rang at midnight, which came a skeleton man with a masque. The red death was a disease for when you get sick and cough up blood, but gets worst then you drown in your own blood. It was called Tuberculosis.

The skeleton came out, and scared everybody and killed them with the disease, even the Prince when he chased him with a dagger. By describing the man, he wore a black cloak. Blood covered his face. I still don’t know why it was him, and how he came to the all the rooms and killed everybody. But the story was a thriller, and you didn’t know what was going to happen next (suspense).

Poe is like the modern day horror story guy, because he made it how it is. Nobody knew there was such a thing as scary, but until’ Poe came along and did what he did. I liked his stories because it gives me the creeps, and never knew things like that can happen. I haven’t experienced any connections. He had a strange life, but did find some true loves. Edgar is still famous for all he done, and created.
