CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services The target group of the Standard under preparation are Management Consultancy Services Providers (MCSP). The clients should be involved as a reference group, not part of the standard. They can be involved:  at a national level before next meeting  or at international level in the small groups Target Group of the Standard under preparation 2

CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services Rationale of the Standard under preparation:  to demonstrate that the management consultancy profession is complying with the European Services Directive (2006/123/EC) by setting its own standard  to share European best practices in management consultancy. Rationale of the Standard 3

CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services Anticipated benefits are:  to remove barriers to cross-border consultancy services;  to enable MCSPs to deliver better value services to clients;  to improve the quality and professionalism of management consultancy in Europe;  to reduce the risks associated with management consultancy assignments;  to increase transparency among MCSPs and clients. Anticipated benefits of the Standard (for the stakeholders) 4

CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services The proposed Standard shall:  be written as a guidance;  not require certification;  be focused on MCSPs, not on clients;  be focused on MCSPs, (not on internal management of MCSPs);  be applicable to all MCSPs; Guiding Principles 5

CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services The proposed Standard shall:  be based on outcomes, some of which may be requirements;  protect innovation and differentiation;  emphasise importance of understanding client needs;  be easy to understand. Guiding Principles 6

CEN/TC 381 Management consultancy services The draft proposal of the Standard will be distributed to the National Standardisation Bodies in the beginning of June 2009 for their comments. 8
