What is rayon? Rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber. Rayon is the oldest man made commercial fiber Rayon is defined as "manmade textile fibers and filaments composed of regenerated cellulose"

Chemical formula Cellulose is treated with alkali and carbon disulfide to yield viscose. Viscose is a solution of cellulose xanthate made by treating a cellulose compound with sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide. The viscose solution is used to spin the fiber viscose rayon, or rayon. Viscose rayon is a fiber made from regenerated wood cellulose.

Some uses of rayon fiber. Apparel: Accessories, blouses, dresses, jackets, lingerie, linings, slacks, sport shirts, sportswear, suits, ties, work uniform clothing. Home Furnishings: Blankets, curtains, sheets, slipcovers, tablecloths, upholstery.
