17 th Geant4 Collaboration Meeting Marc Verderi Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet Chartres, September 2012

Any … Difficulties with payment, reimbursement, etc. have to be dealt with the local organizing committee: – Nora, – Sylvaine, – Sarah, – Ivana, – Myself – Please send to We will make our best to assist you – But please be aware that sometimes (reimbursement) things can be quite complicated Nora and Sarah will be here this morning, other days registrations will be taken care by Ivana and myself.

Sessions and rooms Plenary sessions are from 9:00 to 12:30 – Every morning – In Saint Charles amphitheater Parallel sessions are from 14:00 to 18:00 – Each afternoon Except Friday, SB and SB+OB meetings – Rooms are: Saint Charles Amphitheater Saint Etienne 1 ; first floor, just next to lobby room – Saint Charles should be used for large audience as Saint Etienne is only about 25 persons capacity Coffee breaks are on first floor, near lobby.

Remote participation Saint Charles amphitheater is equipped with a phone line and polycom phone. Remote participation for Saint Etienne should be done through the internet – Eg Skype (installed and tested) – Laptop in Saint Etienne is equipped with audio and microphone sets Skype is configured to use them properly

Network connection Maison Saint Yves is equipped with wireless Network names are: – WIFI_ST_CHARLES in Saint Charles amphitheater – WIFI_ST_YVES on first floor, in Saint Etienne Connection to network requires personal login and password, provided to each of you, by Maison Saint Yves – For people not staying in Saint Yves, please ask for a login and password Laptops equipping Saint Charles and Saint Etienne meeting room have their login and password as well (sticked on keyboard, in case of need), PLEASE DO NOT use them for yourself !

Lunches For those who prepaid their lunch, the partner restaurant is the “Dolce Vita”, 12 rue au lait: – To go there: Leave Saint Yves by the small door on the parking lot Take left Just after take first street on right, walk 1 minute – Restaurant will serve quite quickly – Please do not forget your lunch ticket ! Other participants will easily find restaurants nearby

Participation It is our pleasure that this meeting has a large participation: – 52 registrants ! With the poll circulated some months ago, we got 25 answers – For a Poisson law with  =25, P(x ≥ 52) = 1.6∙10 -6 ! – A 4.8  effect : almost a discovery ! Fortunately our budget was built with  =40 – And with  =40, P(x ≥ 52) = 3.8% : a 2.1  deviation only – We tried to convince our financial managers that this is an acceptable fluctuation that we should not care about But these people do not listen at all to statistics ! At the end, we considered that better it is to share fewer among more than more among fewer

Welcome cocktail and Collaboration Dinner Today (Monday) evening, after the sessions, we will offer you a “wine & cheese” tasting – This will take place in the Sainte Thérèse room – Which is next to breakfast room, on the same floor than amphitheater Saint Charles Thursday will be the Collaboration Dinner – We hope you will find it fancy – It will take place in “Table Saint Yves”, which is a building just next to here – In case you plan *to not* come, please let us know

Outside meeting At these times, the “Chartres en Lumière” event is ongoing – With building illumination up to 1:00 am, each day – The final day, on Saturday, will be a special one, with many attractions inside the city For those who can stay, this is to be seen ! Beyond this, you can enjoy: – The Cathedral, of course We may organize a group visit on Friday afternoon (yes, SB members will work) (group visits stop at 17:30 !). Please let me know if you are interested in (visit not free). – Stained glass museum –…–… – The Eurélienne local beer…

Challenges… “Challenge” is a word that will come often during this week But let’s take an other one ! Have Makoto pronouncing correctly “Chartres” before the end of this week !
