Different Walks of Life  Most Civil War Soldiers were farmers between years old but ages varied from 11 to 83  Immigrants would serve, mostly in the North, and Africans would join the war for the north in time and Native Americans would join the war for both sides  As soldiers joined the war voluntarily, the North began to double up the South in troop numbers

In the Army Now  After Enlisting in the Army soldiers would move to camps for basic training to prepare for the war including following schedules and performing duties  Soldiers Would receive their uniforms. Which did not fit and were in poor quality  The North had inferior supplies due to greedy contractors and the south would not share supplies leading to troops without proper uniforms  During training Soldiers were well fed, but as they joined the war the supplies would become limited
