 Objective: Students will be able to differentiate between chemical and physical properties of matter.  Agenda:  Do Now  Property Notes/PowerPoint  Quick Lab Demo  Classification and Property HW  Exit Ticket

 By using their physical and chemical properties  We describe substances by talking about the specific physical or chemical properties that they have.

 A property that can be described using the five senses.  See, smell, taste, touch, hear  Observing the physical properties does not change or damage the substance to learn about it. We use our sense to observe the properties, we DO NOT change the substance.  Ex: Mass, density, color, size, texture etc.

 Describes a substances ability to react with other substances  We must change the identity of a substance to observe the chemical properties.  These changes are almost always irreversible  Ex: Combustion, Acidity, Rusting
